Musically Inclined

Odessa played her keyboard and sang a song, which she called, “The Stop Sign by the Elementary School.” The lyrics go like this:

You are going to have a big surprise.

It will be a really amazing surprise.

Ants are eating the food you dropped.

You don’t know anything else.

YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ELSE.

YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING.

I have much to learn from her.

Spray Park

Serena will add an update at some point, I am led to believe. We’ve been busy, but I think we still intend to update this site regularly. At least, she does. Since there hasn’t been much here for a while, I thought I’d take some of the pressure off of her and throw up some pictures from our visit to a Tacoma spray park a couple weeks ago.

I feel so conspicuous walking around a spray park full of kids with my camera. I expect that the other parents are thinking I am creepy. Also, on an unrelated note, I made a little boy cry when I asked him if he would share a water sprayer with the other kids. Scott: taking photos of your children and making them cry in Tacoma since 2011. I wonder if I could run for the city council on that platform.

And for Serena, in regard to me posting a bonus update to appease the masses: If I were her, I wouldn’t get too used to this. Not that I can’t be counted on to come in and save the day; that’s obviously preposterous. That’s pretty much the only thing I know how to do.

Fun on the Washington Coast

This past paycheck finally allowed us to buy our long awaited couch.  As we waited for it to be delivered last weekend, we figured now that we are living the high life, a road trip might be in order.  We drove south, towards Olympia, with an eventual destination of the Pacific Ocean.  Last time we ventured to the ocean, it was cold and rainy so we weren’t able to play in the water at all.  The weather service assured us that today, however, it would be 80 degrees and sunny in Tacoma, Olympia, and along the coast.

The weather appeared beautiful and we made a stop in Olympia on our way.  There we found an amazing farmers’ market,  sand castle contest, and festival celebrating their new children’s museum.  After exploring Olympia’s downtown area we stopped for an Indian lunch.  Odessa will say she likes Indian food but usually eats slowly while picking at her plate.  There are a few things she consistently likes, but otherwise she’s not the biggest fan.  Leo, on the other hand, loves Indian food and can’t get enough of it.  In the past, I have handed him bites of things that ended up being really kind of spicy and he still loves it.  “Mah naan, pease!”

As the sky was still blue and the weather still hot we climbed in the car to drive the remaining hour or so to get to the coast.  Obviously, my foreshadowing has hinted heavily that we did not find the same beautiful weather along the coast.  About 20 minutes out it clouded up and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees.  Not to be deterred, we changed into swimming suits and made our way towards the water anyway.  As our feet were stricken with ice cream headache like pains, Odessa and Leo shrieked, splashed, and played in the water and the sand.  It was fun day!
